YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Milwaukee’s Pete Corfield and Youngstown State’s Brian Gorby both earned Coach of the Year honors after leading their teams to becoming champions of the 2015 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Youngstown State swept Athlete of the Year honors. Nina Grambling earned the award after winning both the 60m (7.46) and 200m (24.43) dashes. She was also a leg in the 4x400 relay that came in second for the day. Grambling also won Outstanding Female Performer for Running Events and Individual Female Scoring Champio. Austin McLean took home the top spot in both the mile (4:11.16) and 3000m (8:19.998). He also took second place in the 5000m run. He also earned Co-Individual Scoring Champion award for the men.

Milwaukee’s Alisha Harper earned Freshman of the Year in Field Events for the women after winning the long jump (5.68m) and taking third in the triple jump (11.51m). Ryan Booth of Youngstown State took home the men’s award after taking second in the shot put (16.91m).

Two Youngstown State athletes took Freshman of the Year in Running Events honors. Carl Zallow earned the men’s award after winning the 60m (6.89) and 200m (21.74). Taylor McDonald took home the women’s award after competing in finals for 60m hurdles, 200m, and 400m. McDonald was a part of the 4x400 relay, as well.

Marquis Johnson of Milwaukee won Outstanding Male Performer for Running Events after winning the 400m dash (47.11), placing fourth in the 200m dash, and was a leg in the winning Milwaukee 4x400 relay team.

Sherice Hewett of Milwaukee won Outstanding Performer for Field Event for the women after winning triple jump and breaking the Horizon League record with a jump of 12.76m. She also competed in the finals for the 60m and 200m dashes. Milwaukee’s Nate Pozolinski and Youngstown State’s Connor Neu shared the title of Outstanding Male Performer for Field Events. Neu won the weight throw and broke the Horizon League record with a distance of 20.94m. He also placed sixth in the shot.

Pozolinski won the heptathlon (4633 points) and long jump (7.19m), placed third in high jump (2.08m), and third in triple jump (13.79m). He also placed second in the 60m hurdles (8.11) and went on to share the Individual Scoring Champion title with McLean.

The 2015 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held May 1-3 in Rochester, Michigan and hosted by Oakland University.
